SKIN CARE-element™

BOTOX | RESTYLANE | Juvederm | ElktonMarc Scheiner M.D. and Suellen Scheiner R.N. have developed  a skin care line designed to meet all of your skin care needs.  Products included in the element™ skin care line include cleansers, moisturizers, toners, exfoliators, and anti-oxidants.

The types of different skin care treatments and products may seem overwhelming and confusing.  We recognize the difficulty in choosing the appropriate skin care regime as there are different skin care needs depending on one’s skin type.  A consultation with our aesthetician will simplify the process of obtaining and maintaining healthy skin.

Juvéderm™ Injectable Gel

BOTOX | RESTYLANE | Juvederm | ElktonTouted as the "next generation" of facial fillers, Juvéderm™ injectable gels gently smooth wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose and restore a youthful volume to the face. Made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to provide volume and support to the skin, Juvéderm™ is especially effective on smile lines and "parentheses" (nasolabial folds) that run from the bottom of the nose to the sides of the mouth. Treatment takes only 15 minutes with immediate results and no downtime. Results typically last about 6-9 months.

Radiesse™

Radiesse™ is a synthetic injectable filler that reduces wrinkles, creases and scars by augmenting the body’s natural collagen supply. It can be used on many areas of the body, including the lips, nasolabial folds, peri-oral lines, depressed scars and oral commissures. Treatments typically take 15 minutes and require only local anesthetic. Results are visible immediately after the injection and can last for months or years, although the procedure can be repeated as often as you wish.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin.  Peel formulas and strengths are tailored to each patient. Peels can be combined with other procedures such as facelifts for a younger look.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion ElktonMicrodermabrasion improves mild to moderate sun damage, scarring, wrinkles and other superficial skin problems. A gentle stream of tiny particles exfoliates the outer layer of skin and provides a fresh, glowing, younger appearance. Only a small amount of skin is removed, so sensitive areas such as the face, chest, neck, arms and hands can be treated. Results are comparable to a light chemical peel and should be immediately visible. Microdermabrasion is often performed in conjunction with other skin renewal procedures, such as laser treatment and chemical peels. Multiple treatments are recommended for full effect.

Acne

Ninety percent of us will experience acne in our lifetime. Most cases occur in adolescence. However, as many as 25% of adults will also develop this skin disorder. Acne is inflammation of the skin caused by oil glands making too much of a substance called sebum. This leads to plugged pores and allows for the bacteria P. Acnes to cause inflammation of the skin. Once inflammation of the skin has set in, one will see the typical signs of acne: whiteheads, blackheads, cysts, and red bumps.

Our medical staff uses a combination of medical and natural treatments to resolve acne problems in clients of all ages. The treatment program is tailored to each client and may include speciliazed facials, chemical peels, topical medications, or oral antibiotics.

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer refers to the abnormal, uncontrolled growth of skin cells. One in five people will develop skin cancer in their lifetime, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Risk factors include pale skin, family history of melanoma, being over 40 years old, and regular sun exposure. Fortunately, skin cancer is almost always curable if detected and treated early.

The most common skin cancers are:

  1. Basal cell carcinoma - 80-85% of all skin cancers. Basal cell carcinoma affects cells in the lowest layer of the epidermis.
  2. Squamous cell carcinoma - 10% of all skin cancers. Squamous cell carcinoma affects cells in the middle layer of the epidermis.
  3. Melanoma - 5% of all skin cancers. Melanoma is a rare but very dangerous type of skin cancer. It is the leading cause of death from skin disease.

Skin cancers vary in shape, color, size and texture, so any new, changed or otherwise suspicious growths or rashes should be examined immediately by a physician. Early intervention is essential to preventing the cancer from spreading.

  • Larger than six millimeters.
  • Itches or bleeds.
  • Rapidly changes in color, size or shape.
  • Has multiple colors.
  • Is located where it can't be easily monitored, such as on the scalp.
